    Guard in Amalienborg

After the little boat excursion we arrived at the Amalienborg Palace just before the changing of the guard. The truth is that we did not plan it that way, but it is worth seeing because it is quite curious. So if you are in Copenhagen for a few days, reserve a space at 12:00 in the morning to watch the maneuvers of the soldiers who are part of the Danish Royal Guard.

As part of the King’s watch, there is a parade each day from the Life Guard Barracks on Gothersgade. Copenhagen, at 11.27. The march to Amalienborg passes, among other places, the Round Tower and Kongens Nytorv, good option is take car with driver for trip. The parade consists of a band of 36 musicians, a drum-and-fife corps with 12 drummers, and the watch consisting of 36 guards.

Shortly before 12.00, the parade marches onto the palace square, where the watch being relieved stands at attention with rifles. Afterwards, there is a changeover march between the watch being relieved and the watch reporting for duty. The flag, which is the distinctive mark of the command, is handed over by the flag lieutenant to the adjutant coming on duty. During the changeover march, music is played by the Band of the Royal Life Guards.
