Beethoven's Comeback
It's starting up again: a diverse series of exhibitions in Beethoven year 2020 presents the various facets of the brilliant composer's life and work - and supplements the exhibitions in Vienna at which Beethoven can be found on a permanent basis. The genius can be sensed on location, surrounded by 250 year-old showpieces or contemporary art, or at original Beethoven sites.
Special exhibitions
Beethoven. Human realm and sparks of the gods
In 2020, the Austrian National Library presents original letters and manuscripts of outstanding works by Beethoven in the Grand Hall. The show includes, among other things, pages from the 9th Symphony as well as the manuscript of Beethoven's only violin concerto (op. 61). In addition to the 130 letters penned by the master's hand, the music collection of the National Library is also in possession of the "Hoboken Collection", which includes almost all first and early editions of Beethoven's works.
